Due to the very high flow of vehicles that circulate on national road axes, coastal, touristic areas, and in large urban areas, as well as from the numerous violations of road traffic rules detected through intelligent means, the Traffic Police has intensified measures with aimed at preventing road accidents.

As a result of monitoring on all road axes, 24/7, using smart speedometers, polyscans, automatic radars, high-quality drones, draggers and telescopes, during the week we left behind:

– 161 driving licenses were suspended, for speeding above the permitted rates, for driving under the influence of alcohol/in a drunken state, and for driving in the opposite direction;

– 56 drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated and for driving without a driving license.

Also, 22,260 administrative measures have been imposed throughout the country, of which:

– 6212 for speed exceeding the permitted rates;

– 1123 for using a mobile phone while driving;

– 1125 for not using the seat belt;

– 2100 for wrong passings;

– 178 for not wearing a protective helmet;

– 108 for dangerous maneuvers on the road;

– 213 for driving under the influence of alcohol;

– 9229 for wrong parking;

– 1972 for other violations of the Highway Code.
