The Albanian government has revised the budget for 2024. The news was announced during a statement to the media by the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, who said that the changes come due to the increase in revenues collected by the government.
According to Malaj, funding will be increased for 4 ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Health, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education and Sports.
According to the Minister of Finance, 2 billion lek will be added as funding to the waterworks to complete the necessary projects.
“We have increased additional funding for the Ministry of Agriculture by about 500 million lek to support the farmers’ grant scheme. We have increased additional funding to the amount of 250 million ALL for the Ministry of Health in order to finance primary and secondary care service projects. We have increased funding by 1.3 billion lek for the Ministry of the Interior for the food compensation of the police, in addition to the additional working hours that will benefit in the framework of the tourist season.
We have increased funds for the Ministry of Education and Sports worth 300 million lek to reward athletes who have achieved good sports results”, said Malaj.
He also added that “it will continue to be financed in the national, local and rural infrastructure and in that infrastructure that will play a key role in the economic development of the country”.
