The Kosovo police said on Wednesday that they will interview 5 people, suspected of “falsification of documents”, related to the five Serbian parallel institutions in the north of Kosovo, which were closed on August 30.

The Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the North, Veton Elshani, said that the interviews will be carried out at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The institutions closed on August 30 were: the District of Mitrovica of Kosovo, the parallel Municipality of Mitrovica, the parallel Municipality of Zveçan, the parallel Municipality of Zubin Potok and the parallel Municipality of Leposaviç.

In some of the facilities that were previously used by parallel institutions, plaques have been placed in recent days indicating that they will now be used as offices for some of Kosovo’s ministries and their departments.

The workers of those parallel institutions protested for two days against their closure.

Kosovo authorities have closed 5 parallel Serbian institutions on Friday, saying that they acted under the leadership of Serbia and “violated the constitutionality and laws of the Republic of Kosovo”.
