The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, has said that they are in constant contact with the parties in Kosovo after the recent actions of the Police in the north where five parallel institutions were closed.

According to him, the situation in the north is unstable and their concern is that such uncoordinated actions may contribute to the increase of tensions and the de-escalation of the situation.

“The European Union is in constant contact with the Kosovar counterparts at different levels, in different formats, and we are conveying our messages and expectations very clearly. I will not repeat what we said in our reaction last week, when the action took place in the north of Kosovo against some institutions run by the local Serbs there. But at the end of the day, we have an issue, we have a situation, which is already quite unstable, and our main concern is, and this is the main message for the Kosovo authorities to avoid any actions and steps that are unilateral, uncoordinated, and may contribute to increasing tensions and de-escalating the situation even more”, Stano said in a press conference.
