The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, spoke about relations with Albania, during a media conference held on Sunday from Thessaloniki.
Mitsotakis said that official Athens wants good relations with all its neighbors, including Albania.
He added that Greece has gone through a difficult period in the case of Fredi Beleri, but expressed satisfaction that the latter was released and the adventure was over.
Mitsotakis said that Greece’s condition to support Albania’s integration processes is that the property rights of the Greek minority in Albania are guaranteed.
“We want the best possible relationship with all our neighbors. These neighbors include Albania. We have gone through a difficult time and I do not want to talk in detail about the Fredi Beleri case.
To express my satisfaction that he was with us at the International Fair and that this completely unfair and unnecessary adventure that he suffered finally came to an end.
Let’s say once again that the relations, to see the big picture, the relations between Greece and Albania, which we want to be very good, pass on respecting the rights of the Greek national minority of Albania.
The issue of property rights has never left the agenda. It is coming back and what we will do is to ensure, and with the help of Fredi Beleri in the European Parliament, that the property rights of our fellow citizens in Albania are fully respected.
And I would say that this is a necessary condition for Albania to continue moving forward on its European path”, said Mitsotakis.
