The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, is officially accused by the bodies of its products. During the submission to the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) of this right, the head of the DP was informed of the charge of “Passive corruption committed in cooperation”.

The accusation was confirmed for Euronews Albania by Berisha’s lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj.

Berisha accused SPAK of a political process with different goals.

“That accusation they had, another one. No other stuff than 500 pages.

A political revenge, an order of a political mobster. There is no document to prove that the slightest violation of the law has occurred in this entire process. There is no Berisha firm for property restitution and compensation. The whole goal is to capture the head of the Democratic Party,” said Berisha.

Berisha and his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, are being investigated by SPAK regarding the privatization procedures of the former “Partizani” sports complex.

From December 2023, Berisha is under house arrest, as he previously ignored the measure of their protection.
