The President of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, welcomed today the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, in the Presidency of the Assembly, during his official visit to Albania.

This is the first time that an Israeli president visits Albania, marking a historic moment in the relations between the two countries.

Members of the friendship group with the Knesset participated in the meeting: The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj, the chairperson of the friendship group Blerina Gjylameti, MPs Blendi Klosi and Oerd Bylykbashi, as well as the Ambassador of Albania to Israel, Meri Kumbe, and the Ambassador of Israel to Albania, Galit Peleg.

During her speech, Spiropali emphasized the pride of Albanians for the historical relations with the Jews.

She underlined the strong partnership with Israel in areas such as politics, economy, defense, the fight against terrorism and cyber security.

President Herzog expressed his gratitude for the reception and appreciated the role of the Albanians in protecting the Jews during difficult times.

He congratulated the excellent relations between Albania and Israel in many fields, as well as invited President Spiropali to visit Israel.
