The Minister of Economy and Culture and Innovation, Bledi Gonxhja issued a statement to the media after the government meeting held this Wednesday, where he announced that among the decisions taken was the approval of the indexation with 4.1% of pensions.

Gonxhja announced that the decision comes into force immediately and starting from October 1, over 791 thousand pensioners will benefit. He also said that the implementation of this decision will cost about 17 million euros only for the 3 months of 2024.

“I share with you today the decision of the government of Albania for the annual indexation of pensions at the rate of 4.1%, which starts with the payments of October 2024. 791257 pensioners benefit from this decision, according to the current number divided into these two categories: 721705 are pensions from the mandatory scheme of old age, invalids or family pensions and 680613 are special pensions, for soldiers, oilmen and others.

The financial effects for the implementation of this decision are estimated at around 17 million euros only for the 3 months of 2024. It is known that the main goal of indexation is to maintain the purchasing power of pensions. The Government of Albania has special attention and focus, it is our challenge to guarantee that we have an increase in income for pensioners in order to ensure a life as worthy as possible”, said Bledi Gonxhja.
