The United Nations adopted on September 22 a “Pact for the Future” aimed at addressing the many challenges of the century, from conflicts to climate change and human rights. Also present at this meeting was the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama who said that Albania fully supports the “Pact for the Future”.
In his speech, he also focused on the news that the Bektashi World Order Center will turn into a sovereign state within Tirana, and will function similarly to the Vatican. The Prime Minister said that in order to support this project, Albania is based on the same principles that it has always had in Mother Teresa’s statement that not all of us can do big things, but we can do small things with great love.
“Today the eyes of the world should be on this meeting. The peoples of the world continue to believe in a better future. I seriously doubt that. We must have the courage to admit that recently, our actions have often been far from the expectations of the peoples we claim to serve. From time to time, the UN has failed to fulfill the hopes of our people, and the fear of the future is growing everywhere, in the east and west, in the north and in the south, while crises fall upon us. These crises have destroyed common ground, torn us apart further, and yet we have squandered the opportunities that each crisis presented to us.
How to start building that trust that has been eroded. How to prove that multilateral action is not an empty word, but the power that can really solve the challenges, how to prove that our collective power is not only greater, but the only solution we have to save humanity from collapse.
How to inspire rather than demoralize ordinary people whose lives are destroyed day by day by the irresponsible actions of powers large and small, including in Europe, where a new war has called into question even the existence of humanity, as threats are being made with nuclear weapons. The world has changed since the United Nations was founded. It seems we have lost the pure reason why this institution remains irreplaceable. No one is safe anymore. Our challenges are interconnected, if we do not face them from a multilateral order we will fail. Albania fully supports the Pact for the Future.
Commitments must be fulfilled and implemented. Albania may be a small country, but it has given the world good examples. We have shown it with the Jews, with the Afghans, we have given the world the youngest saint, Mother Teresa, whose life embodied love for humanity, reminded us that not all of us can do great things, but we can little things with great love. This is the principle that Albania stands for, this is what we want to act with, this is the source of our inspiration, to support the transformation of the Center of the Bektashi World Order, into a sovereign state within Tirana, as a new center of union and peaceful tolerance”, said Rama.
