Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on his X network regarding the creation of the new Bektashi state in Tirana, news which was first made known through an article in the New York Times.
In the photo next to the book by the Canadian author Robert Elsie, with the title “Albanian Bektashi, History and Culture of the Dervish Order in the Balkans”, the Prime Minister writes:
“A wonderful book for anyone interested in learning more about the unique history and culture of the Bektashi Order, a treasure that Albania has to offer in the service of peace, tolerance and humanism as a sovereign spiritual entity in our capital Tirana, where the Headquarters of the Bektashian World has been established for a long time and then revived from the ashes of the communist atheistic dictatorship.”

About the potential of creating this sovereign state, Rama also spoke before the UN General Assembly in New York, underlining that Albanians throughout history have given examples of religious tolerance.
