The British Embassy in Albania has reacted regarding the chaos caused on Tuesday afternoon in the Parliament of Albania, where the opposition MPs, in a pre-announced action, have made the plenary session impossible.
They blocked the lectern, threw things at the Speaker of the Parliament, and then took the chairs out to the Parliament yard and burned them.
In its response, the Embassy states that “violence has no place in democracy”, it further writes that it condemns any action that aims to undermine the principles of democracy.
“Violence has no place in democracy. The British Embassy asks all Albanian political parties to engage in constructive dialogue and peaceful parliamentary processes.
The British Embassy condemns the activity that aims to undermine these principles and remains committed to supporting the people and democracy of Albania.
