The historical, constructional values and rich traditions of Gjirokastra are serving as strong points of cooperation between the stone city and Albanians abroad.
In addition to tourist visits to cultural activities, the participation of Albanians from Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia stands out in the tradition fairs taking place in Gjirokastra.
“We are some artisans who come from Kosovo, North Macedonia, we present ourselves with different types of handicrafts, that is, with leather products, with different embroideries, with traditional spring instruments, with embroidered bags, by hand and with other handicraft items ,” says a man.
“It’s the first time I came, I enjoyed myself very much, I have several other artisan colleagues who come every year,” says a woman.
The city of Gjirokastra and its surroundings now welcome an increasing number of visitors from all over Albania, who account for a significant number of tourists visiting the South of the country.
