The deputy of the Democratic Party, Ervin Salianji, has sent a letter from Fier prison, where he is serving his sentence for the “Babale” file, regarding the recent developments in the premises of the Assembly.

The letter, which was delivered to the lawyer at 1:45 p.m., comes after today’s expelled DP deputies, together with their colleagues, blocked the entrances to the parliament, preventing socialists from entering the hall.

Clashes de-escalated to physical confrontations between MPs of both political camps.

In the letter, Salianji writes that the majority camp is behaving as if it were the victim of “opposition violence”, using the party’s institutions and commissions as a tool to destroy democracy.

Full letter:

“The appearance of aggressors as victims, of violators as violated, of abusers as affected by touching public property is disgusting hypocrisy.

The same way whistleblowers steal and take responsibility, as they devastate and destroy, as they divide Albania as war spoils for gangs and between gangs, as they persecute the administration, destroy the meritocracy, today they are trying to behave like victims.

The greatest violence and brutality is the elimination of the political opponent by annihilating and subduing the institutions.

Using institutions, such as party committees, to whip and take away freedom and annihilate rights.

The greatest crime is the destruction of democracy and the rule of law.

After murder, political imprisonment is the most serious and brutal form of violence.

The opposition is defending itself and defending democracy and the public interest.”
