The cost of living for a family of 4 in the country has increased over the past year. INSTAT reports that expenses reached an average of 92,000 ALL per month, or 4% more than in 2022.

Most of them, again, went for food, for which families spent 36,000 lek on average in a month. The food products that cost the most were meat and its by-products, bread, and vegetables.

On the other hand, for water and energy bills, the expenses at the country level were 8,900 ALL. In contrast to 2022, last year families increased spending on personal hygiene, aesthetic treatments and hairdressing services.

Also, more was spent on alcoholic beverages, on housing furnishings and on the purchase of cooking equipment.

Three are the counties where a family with 4 members spends more. The list is headed by Tirana, with 102 thousand ALL per month, which is the only county above the average, followed by Korça and Durrës.

While Kukësi and Dibra continue to remain the counties where the average monthly expenses for consumption are lower.
