Farmers in the southeast, who have applied to benefit from excise duty-free oil from the Ministry of Agriculture, have not yet received it, while others have benefited up to 50%.

This is reported by the farmers themselves, as they say that the oil should have been given earlier, since the planting process starts in September, while they have no information about what will happen with the other amount that they should benefit from.

“The area is 50 hectares, we have not received oil. There are no funds, no one gives an explanation. The oil had to be given in June so that the farmers could work and harvest the wheat. They are planting again and paying pocket money, they are doing it with pocket money”, says a farmer.

“There are farmers who have received 50% of the amount, there are farmers who have not received it yet, part of it is the delay of the documents, the rest I don’t know. I have not received a single liter at the moment, they are still in the verification process. Our economy is necessarily damaged”, says another.

The director of the agricultural extension department in Korça admits the fact that the farmers have received only 50% of the amount of oil, while it is not yet known when the rest will be received.

“In the district of Korça, we have 10,350 applications, almost 80% of those who have applied have received almost 50% of the value of the subsidy and we will continue until all the farmers who have applied receive the 50% measure, after that they will receive the portion other farmers who have applied. Year after year, we have reallocated the fund and they received 100% of the subsidy”, says Vullent Gjolla, director of the Directorate of Agricultural Extension in Korça.

It remains unclear why farmers who had regular documentation only benefited from 50% of the amount of oil, while according to the system they are its beneficiaries. Farmers have to wait for an increase in funds from the ministry of agriculture, so that the agricultural tools make noise in the southeast.
