About 2100 tons of industrial waste are expected to arrive in Albania on Monday evening

The waste is suspected to contain harmful toxic substances, packed in 102 containers, writes the American non-governmental organization Basel Action Network.

The Democratic Party, environmentalists, representatives of civil society and citizens have organized a protest against ships that are expected to arrive in Albania after suspicions that they contain dangerous waste.

They have blocked the entrance to the port of Durrës with a banner that reads “Hazardous waste, toxic government”.

Dozens of Durrës police officers are present to ensure the smooth running of the protest.
