In New York, a group of members of the Albanian Diaspora protested during the meeting that Prime Minister Edi Rama had organized with Albanians in America.

The incidents also happened inside the hall where the Prime Minister was holding the meeting. A group of people present started blowing their whistles and shouting “thief”, in the direction of the prime minister who was speaking about the successes of the justice reform.

It was the security forces who forcibly took the protesters out. During the escort, there were also clashes between protesters and supporters of the prime minister.

Protesters expressed their concerns about the political situation in Albania and demanded responsibility from the government for various issues, including corruption.

The protest took place not only in the hall, but also in front of the place where the meeting of the head of government with the Diaspora was being held. With DP banners and American flags, the protesters emphasized the importance of the voices of the Diaspora in the political processes in Albania and demanded a greater commitment from the government to address the issues that preoccupy them.

After the meeting with the diaspora in New York, Rama will return to Tirana, while he will continue the tour next weekend, where he will travel to Thessaloniki in Greece.
