The extradition procedures of the Russian citizen arrested in Albania have been suspended until a second decision is made.

“My client is currently being extradited to Russia, contrary to the decision of the Constitutional Court”, said Igor Kokunov’s lawyer, Isuf Shehu.

Igor Kokunov is accused in Russia of the criminal offense of “occupying a high position in the criminal hierarchy”.

According to the lawyers, Kokunov’s search was signed by the deputy general prosecutor of Russia, who has been declared non grata by international organizations of which Albania is a member.

Rusi Kokunov was detained in Murriqan in August last year on the basis of an international search warrant, although he had previously traveled to Germany and Montenegro.
