For various legal violations found, during the period January-October 2024, the Audiovisual Media Authority has approved 46 fines for various entities, radio, television and authorized cable entities.
From the monitoring of the contents, from the controls of the inspection groups or from the review of the complaints received at the Complaints Council, broadcasts that incite hatred among citizens have been found; broadcasts that violate human dignity and fundamental rights; broadcasts of content harmful to children; broadcasts that incite violence or criminal offences; illegal transmissions; violation of standards for the transmission of serious images on criminal events, etc., which have been punished according to legal provisions.
Also, during these ten months, the work teams at AMA have also faced OSHMA that have not self-declared the financial statements at AMA, that do not fulfill other legal obligations, such as the declaration of the ownership structure, but also radio stations that have not respected the legal requirements for the broadcasted program content.
For these violations, the 10th month of 2024 was closed with 46 fines.
The supervision and further regulation of the audio and audiovisual media market, the enforcement of the law and the punishment of offenders is one of the objectives of the AMA’s work, with the aim of ensuring a professional audiovisual market in Albania.
