Declaration in Thessaloniki about “Vorio-Epiri”, official Athens responds to Rama

The statement of Prime Minister Edi Rama that “Vorio-Epiris is a dead term” has brought the reaction of Official Athens. The Foreign Ministry of Greece states that “the history between the two countries does not change”.

Official Athens has reacted after the strong statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama from Thessaloniki, where he said that “Vorio-Epis is a dead term”. In response to these statements, the Foreign Ministry of Greece stated that “the history between the two countries does not change”.

The Greek Foreign Ministry has asked Albania to respect the rights of the minority, as a condition for membership in the European Union, CNN Greek quotes.

“The history between the two countries does not change, therefore full respect by Albania of the rights of the Greek ethnic minority is necessary. This constitutes an explicit condition for Albania’s membership process, according to the unanimous position of the 27 member states of the European Union dated October 11, 2024”, the statement of the Greek Foreign Ministry states.

In the meeting with the Albanians in Thessaloniki, held this Sunday, Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a message to the extremists, who also protested against his visit. Rama called them fossils, while he said that ‘Vorio-Epirus’ is a dead notion.
