Prime Minister Edi Rama commented from Hungary, during the Summit of the European Political Community, on the re-election of Donald Trump in the United States.

During a short speech to journalists, Rama said that Europe and the world should not be hysterical about Trump’s return. He emphasized that, contrary to expectations, NATO became stronger during the first term of Donald Trump’s presidency.

“When he was elected the first time, everyone was trembling, because maybe NATO would end, but NATO became stronger. Let’s not become hysterical before we see the reality and what will happen”, said Rama.

The Prime Minister added that the elections in the USA can serve as an opportunity for Europe to reshape many things. He emphasized that this could be an opportunity to see the world differently and to change Europe.

“I believe that what was said and discussed before the European elections went too far, and what happened in the USA can serve as an opportunity to reshape many things, to see the world differently, to see Europe differently. Europe is getting older, it needs more energy, less regulation, and maybe it’s an opportunity to set things in motion,” said Rama.

He also emphasized that the US is much stronger than any individual who is in the White House, and that what can happen in the US can have a positive impact on Europe.
