People who have problems with rheumatism, breathing problems and skin problems choose the Elbasan spa (llixha) twice a year for its healing properties. Elbasan is one of the only centers that has been using thermal waters for decades.

The curative season in the Spas of Elbasan sees an extraordinary attendance in the September-November period of each year. The visitors tell Euronews Albania why they choose this spa.

“I have been attending the spa of Elbasan for 5 years and I feel good because I suffer from rheumatism. The water is sulphurous and we know it when we come and frequent it by the color. It’s the best, I’ve also been to Peshkopi, but here I don’t replace it with anything”, says a woman.

Currently, there are more than 10,000 people accommodated, mainly from Kosovo and North Macedonia.

“I come from Greece, I feel better here and it is better. I have been coming for 13-14 years and we will come again, we come twice a year. From rheumatism, but we are still better, my knees, shoulders, all my bones hurt, I am much better now. The water is excellent”, says another.

The thermal waters of Elbasan are known for their curative values, and year after year, with the improvement of the service, the number of visitors has also increased. They are recommended for diseases of the respiratory tract, nervous system, skin and rheumatism.
