Seasonal flu is circulating. The Institute of Public Health (ISHP) experts have isolated the first cases affected by the flu. Epidemiologists are monitoring the situation, while it is observed that the trend of respiratory infections is constantly increasing.
“We have identified cases of influenza A so far, not severe forms, we are under observation. Both AH3N2 and AH1N1 are currently circulating. The frequency of identification of the influenza virus is low, but we have an increasing trend of respiratory infections”, said Silva Bino, head of the Department of Epidemiology, ISHP.
But, Bino underlines that if citizens will receive the flu vaccine, which is offered free of charge in polyclinics, the burden of the disease may decrease.
“If we have a good vaccination rate, as we have, we do not expect to have a very difficult winter, however, apart from the flu, Sars Cov 2 is circulating, there are other respiratory viruses, it is RSV that we are we identify this season”, she said.
As for upper and lower respiratory infections, they have exceeded 11,000 affected per week.
