Kosovo and North Macedonia have very good relations, which are reflected in the continuous growth of trade between the two countries.

“The good relations between our two countries are also reflected in the continuous increase in trade, which reached over 432 million euros in 2023. The commercial exchange has also increased, in the sense of the export from Kosovo to North Macedonia from 44 million in the first pre-pandemic year to 121 million last year”, said Albin Kurti.

This is what Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared in his speech during the joint meeting of the two governments that was held in Pristina.

Kurti said that the two neighboring countries have signed over 50 agreements and memoranda, which have offered us even more with each other, but their full implementation is necessary.

Macedonian counterpart, Hristijan Mickoski, also spoke about the economic cooperation between the two countries.

“This year the economic cooperation will be over half a billion euros, between our two countries in the years that follow so that the economic cooperation will be even greater and this will bring us benefits for our two countries. I am happy that together during the Berlin process we signed agreements with which we form the common market, which is an important mechanism for all of us, with which we now have a common market of €17-18 million”, said North Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickovski.

Mickoski also mentioned the agreements which, according to him, are part of energy and cross-border crossings.

“I will be happy if in a few weeks we can have a border crossing point, facilitating the movement of goods and citizens. Regarding energy, we can cooperate as states”, Mickovski added.

The governments of Kosovo and North Macedonia have signed a protocol for the implementation of the agreement on the movement of citizens at two border points, but also the memorandum of understanding on energy and the memorandum on education.
