In 2023, 60 thousand citizens traveled abroad to do business, marking an increase of nearly 50% in the number of trips for commercial purposes.
Thousands of Albanian citizens leave the country’s border points every day, visiting different countries in Europe and beyond. In 2023, the number of trips by residents over the age of 15 reached 4.4 million.
INSTAT has conducted an analysis of the reasons for visits abroad, revealing that 97.5% of the trips with a return ticket were for tourism, while 2.5% were for business reasons.
In concrete terms, 60,000 trips during the past year were made for commercial purposes or for new business deals. This figure represents an increase compared to 2022, when 40 thousand exits from the country were registered.
The 25-35 age group is the age group with the highest number of citizens traveling abroad, with an average stay of 4 days during the past year.
Exits from the Albanian borders were carried out by car, ship and plane, but about 90% of the crossings were carried out by road transport with private vehicles or buses.
The most frequented destinations, according to the flow of travel, are Greece, Italy, Spain, England and Turkey.
