The American drama “The Glass Menagerie” was the play put on stage at the weekend by the “Zihni Sako” theater troupe in Gjirokastra. This drama is among the most successful pieces of American dramaturgy and comes for the first time to the Gjirokastra public.

Based on the life of the famous playwright Tennessee Williams, the play deals with a family drama that is both personal and universal. The drama “The Glass Menagerie” took to the stage with a high artistic level and talented interpretation by the cast.

“For me the whole piece is a challenge because “The Glass Menagerie” is one of the most important pieces of Tennessee Williams who is one of the fathers of American drama and of course it is not easy to deal with such an author, but the important thing is that it was given in Gjirokastra, the public in Gjirokastra received it very well”, says the director Erjon Hinaj.

“I want to thank the audience, it was extraordinary with all its reactions, it followed the show very attentively and it made all of us actors simply enjoy the whole show even more,” says actress Lejda Çeli.

“To be honest, I felt a certain lack in this premiere because I missed the iconic actors of this theater, but I can say with pride that in this show, we young actors have tried to follow their own path and I am very proud of that ”, says actor Aleksandër Kondi.

Throughout this artistic season, pieces by Albanian and foreign authors have appeared on the stage of the Gjirokastra theater, the interpretation of which has been appreciated by art lovers.
