Kosovo Police announced on Friday afternoon that they have increased security measures in Kosovo, including in the northern area of the country, where “several attacks or serious criminal incidents” have occurred in recent days.
According to the announcement, it is planned to increase police activities in order to provide more security throughout the country.
“Police operational planning will focus on increasing the police presence on the ground, carrying out more patrols in the most critical areas, more checkpoints and increased cooperation with citizens,” said the Kosovo Police.
This institution said that with the increase in police measures, the aim is to maintain public order and peace, prevent criminal acts and investigate and bring to justice “all those who will dare to attack security, law and constitutional order”.
“The goal of police operations will be the safety of citizens, the safety of their property and public and institutional property,” said the Kosovo Police on November 29.
In the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, there have been incidents with explosive devices in recent days.
On November 27, the authorities announced that the police station in Zveçan had been attacked with two hand grenades. Apart from material damage, no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, on November 29, the Police announced that the Zveçan Municipality building was attacked with an explosive device, suspected to be a hand grenade.
This incident has been condemned by the state authorities, as Prime Minister Albin Kurti has described the recent attacks as “criminal and terrorist acts that aim to instill fear”.
