The end-of-year holidays have increased the flow of traffic in the largest port in the country.

As the Christmas and New Year holidays are approaching, many Albanian immigrants have returned to their homeland to spend these holidays with their families.

Euronews Albania learns that this morning, 4536 passengers arrived at the port of Durrës with 3 ferries of the line Bari – Durrës and Ancona – Durrës, while 1157 passengers left.

However, these are not the final figures for this Sunday, as the arrival of 2 more ferries from Bari is expected at dinner.

We remind that starting from the 19th and until today, when the date marks the 22nd of December, the ferries connecting the port of Durrës with the Italian ports have made double sailings every day, to cope with the flow of travelers who wanted to return to Albania.

In order to quickly process passengers and their vehicles, the port authorities have made available 30 counters.

The flow of passengers during these days is expected to be about 10% higher compared to the same period a year ago, but still much lower than during the summer season.

In the period January-November of this year, 716,214 passengers were processed in the port of Durrës, of which 337,324 were inbound and 378,890 were outbound.
