The former American diplomat, Cameron Munter, says that the negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia for the normalization of relations cannot continue without changing anything, “if we don’t want to spend another 15 years waiting”.

He believes that the return of Donald Trump to the White House will definitely impose a change of strategy, since, as he says, Trump wants agreements.

“His aim is not to introduce Serbs and Kosovars into the European Union. His goal is to do the best for the United States, to make America great again,” says Munter in an interview.

According to him, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has advantages and disadvantages in relation to the elected president, while the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has worked on creating personal connections with the people of his administration.

Munter was the US ambassador to Serbia when Kosovo declared independence in 2008.
