This Wednesday in the “Cardinal Mikel Koliqi” hall, the decision of the Holy See in the Vatican was officially announced for the assumption of the new office as Archbishop of Shkodra, Monsignor Giovanni Peragine.
In a warm ceremony with church authorities, the presentation was made by Monsignor Angelo Massafra.
In his speech, the Archbishop of Metropolitan Shkodra-Pult Monsignor Giovanni Peragine emphasized unity, as a very important virtue for good coexistence among all communities.
“Dialogue and all the other non-Catholic realities present in the diocese will also be important. I think of the Orthodox believers and other Christian believers, of our Muslim brothers and of the civil authorities who work for citizens and protect the dignity of civilians”, Giovanni Peragine, metropolitan archbishop of Shkodra-Pult
The new Archbishop replaced Mr. Angelo Massafra after a journey of 3 decades in Shkodër. Since 2017, he held the position of Apostolic Administrator of South Albania.
