Kosovo is officially entering the election race on February 9. For the political connoisseurs out there, the campaign this time around will be tough till polling day.
The political parties are officially in the election campaign this month, after the pre-campaign of the last few weeks. But how was this done before the campaign and what should we expect until the day of the polls? For connoisseurs of political communication, from the language and the way it has been used so far, we should expect an even tougher campaign, where the language will degrade even more.
“I am sure that there can be a greater tightening of the language”, said Arben Fetoshi, professor of political communication.
According to communication professor Alban Zeneli, the ruling party is more to blame for this situation.
According to both, this form of campaign endangers democracy and creates extreme polarizations in society. Also, they say that the parties are dealing more with harsh language than with political offers and actors who are not in the game at all are also involved.
However, Fetoshi strongly believes that the supporters of any party do not follow them, to the point where this civil clash between different camps can happen.
Meanwhile, Zeneli is afraid that citizens are attracted more by the label and not by the content. The official election campaign in Kosovo starts on January 11 and will last for 30 days.
