2024 is the most positive year in terms of cultural heritage visitation. In 12 months, over 1.3 million visitors entered 28 cultural objects and sites, 31% more than in 2023.
Gjirokastra Castle remains the first most visited destination for this year as well, with over 263 thousand visitors, or 20.7% more than in 2023. Unlike 2023, where the Archaeological Park of Shkodra was ranked second as the most visited, in 2024 it ranks fourth with over 157 thousand.
After Gjirokastra, the most visited site is Butrinti with over 200,000 visitors. The Gjergj Kastrioti Museum in Krujë with over 174,000 visitors and Apolonia with 121,000 are ranked as the most frequented.
Investments in cultural institutions are expected to add more services, while the aim is that the figures this year will be even more positive.
