The monasteries of the Drinos Valley have been selected for the World Monuments Watch 2025.
In a post by the U.S. Embassy, it is stated that the selection was made from 200 nominations as one of 25 sites facing cultural heritage challenges.
“Congratulations, Albania! The monasteries of the Drinos Valley have been selected for the World Monuments Watch 2025, chosen from 200 nominations as one of 25 sites facing cultural heritage challenges. This recognition highlights the global significance of Albania’s cultural heritage. The U.S. Embassy is proud to support these ancient monasteries through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, helping to protect and revitalize them for future generations and local communities,” the U.S. Embassy post states.
