The city of Korçë and its surrounding areas are a popular destination year-round, but during the year-end holidays, finding accommodation becomes nearly impossible due to the high demand.
“During the last 10 days of 2024 alone, in the city of Korçë and the tourist villages of Boboshticë, Dardhë, and Voskopoja, a minimum of €2.5 million was spent. Additionally, due to the influx of visitors, tour operators have increased their accommodation capacities,” said Fatmir Ceci, an economics specialist.
Ceci noted that, based on a minimum calculation per person, more than €2.5 million was spent within 10 days.
“During the holiday season, Korçë experiences a significant influx of tourists. According to calculations, with 4,000 beds in Korçë, at a minimum cost of €50 per individual, €2 million was generated. When accounting for restaurants and shopping, the figure reaches €2.5 million. Realistically, a visitor in Korçë spends around 5,000 ALL (€50) per day on accommodation and meals,” said Ceci.
He added that the number of visitors to Korçë is steadily increasing, prompting hotel operators to expand the number of rooms and beds.
“Korçë is witnessing a growth trend in accommodation facilities. This substantial investment has led to better quality services and an increased number of tourists. Moreover, the people of Korçë maintain reasonable prices, which has contributed to the city’s ‘boom’ in visitors,” said the economist.
Official figures from the Municipality of Korçë show that the city and its tourist villages were visited by over half a million tourists in 2024. This number is expected to rise further this year, supported by developments in infrastructure.
