The General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, and the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Ms. Kato Kikuko, have agreed to establish new bridges of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The courtesy meeting between Proda and Ambassador Kikuko, held at the premises of the General Directorate of the State Police, was attended by the Deputy Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Fujimura Daisuke, and senior officials from the State Police.

During the meeting, the current collaboration between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries was highly praised, particularly in the field of cybercrime investigations.

Proda and Kikuko expressed their commitment to intensify this cooperation by leveraging Japan’s advanced technology and the readiness and professionalism of the Albanian Police structures to contribute to global-impact police interventions.

The fight against cybercrime—a crime with global reach—was emphasized as a priority during the discussions. Despite the geographical distance, law enforcement agencies must unify and act as equal and trusted partners during operations to fulfill their shared missions, ensure public order and safety, and uphold citizens’ rights.
