Last year, 11.7 million foreign nationals visited Albania, but only 2.2 million of them stayed in hotels and similar accommodations. This figure indicates that 80% of visitors opted for rental apartments, informal structures, or were day visitors.
The data comes from INSTAT’s latest report, which also analyzes December, showing that the number of non-resident visitors in hotels increased by 20%.
In the last month of the year, more than 10% of non-resident visitors were from Italy, followed by Kosovars at 8%. Additionally, the number of German visitors has increased, ranking third with 4.3%, followed by British, French, and Turkish tourists.
According to INSTAT, in December 2024, the number of non-resident visitors accommodated in the central region saw the highest increase, exceeding 26%.
Beyond the desire to explore the capital city and cultural or historical sites, some European visitors come for business purposes or to receive services at aesthetic and dental centers.
