Albania has officially become part of the “Military Erasmus” program, which will allow Albanian cadets to receive training in over ten military academies across European Union member states.
This development was confirmed during Defense Minister Pirro Vengu’s meetings with EU security and defense officials in Brussels. The main focus of these discussions was the strengthening of the military industry and the enhancement of international cooperation in this sector.
During a meeting between Minister Vengu and Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defense, Albania’s contribution to security in Southeastern Europe was highly recognized.
“As Albania makes comprehensive progress in its EU accession process, I requested that our country be included in the new mechanisms for supporting the military industry that the European Union is developing for its member states,” Minister Vengu stated.
Another key meeting was held with Fergal O’Regan, Head of the European Security and Defense College, where discussions centered on strengthening academic capacities, exchanging expertise in research and innovation, and enriching military training curricula.
Mr. O’Regan welcomed Albania’s participation in the ‘Military Erasmus’ program, emphasizing that this initiative will open doors for high-quality and standardized training for Albanian cadets in prestigious EU military academies.
