The number of applications from Albanian emigrants to register as voters from abroad for the May 11 elections has reached 365,166.

The number of registered voters who will receive the ballot envelope from the CEC so far is over 234,000, while 18,000 applications remain unprocessed.

This figure, when compared to participation in the last parliamentary and local elections, suggests that around 15% of total voters are expected to take part in the May 11 elections.

Meanwhile, there are around 42,000 Albanian citizens in the diaspora who completed the registration process on the CEC platform but failed to finalize it for various reasons.

The highest number of diaspora voters belongs to Tirana County, with approximately 50,000 registered voters from abroad. Following Tirana, the counties of Fier, Durrës, Elbasan, and Korça also show high numbers of emigrants registered to vote on May 11.

The majority of registrations have come from Italy, with around 88,000 registered emigrants, followed by Greece with approximately 63,000, as well as Germany and the U.S..

This diaspora participation is expected to impact the threshold for securing a parliamentary seat in almost all counties of the country.
