In January, before recent developments, Barometri at Euronews Albania surveyed 1,600 citizens and found that 42.2% trusted SPAK’s work, making it the second most trusted institution in the country, following the US Embassy.
By mid-February, when the same question was asked again, trust in SPAK had risen significantly.
The survey showed that 52.1% of citizens now trust the institution—an increase of 10 percentage points. For the first time, SPAK became the most trusted institution in Albania, surpassing the US Embassy by nearly 2 percentage points.
When asked to assess SPAK’s performance, which includes multiple investigations and arrests of high-profile officials from all political sides, 70.7% of respondents gave a positive evaluation. Only 7.1% had a negative view, while 20.3% remained neutral.
Since its establishment in late 2022, SPAK has seen a fourfold increase in public trust. In November 2022, only 14.2% of citizens expressed confidence in its work.
