In a special ceremony attended by personalities from various fields, Ilirjan Alliu was honored with the title “Legend of Albanian Football” by the Albanian Football Association (FSHF) for his contribution as a football player and currently as an analyst on the “Max Sport” program.

Alliu took his first career steps at Sopoti, where in 1990 he joined the first team. He stood out as a full-back and contributed to the club’s historic promotion to the top tier of Albanian football, winning the First Division title in the process.

His career progressed as he played for clubs such as Tirana, Teuta, and Flamurtari, with Elbasani being his final stop, where he hung up his boots in 2003.

During his career, Alliu won the Albanian Championship in the 1993-1994 season and the Albanian Cup in 1994-1995 with a talented generation of players at Teuta Durrës. He was also part of the U-21 national team from 1993-1994 and a member of the senior national team from 1994 to 1997.

FSHF President Armand Duka praised Alliu’s contribution and highlighted his golden years at Teuta, where he won two major trophies.

Alliu himself did not hide his emotions upon receiving the honor, calling it one of the most beautiful moments of his life.

“Today is one of those special moments in life when I feel pride, gratitude, and overwhelming emotion. To be honored with the title ‘Legend of Albanian Football’ is a great privilege and an extraordinary motivation for everything I’ve given and represented on the field.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and valued me throughout my career. This award is not just mine, but belongs to all those who inspired me, stood by me, and were part of this journey.

A special thanks goes to the Albanian Football Association and President Armand Duka, who with this recognition have given me one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Your support and dedication to Albanian football is a driving force for every generation to come.

Thank you all! This is not just an award for me, but for all the fans, teammates, and people who love Albanian football. Respect and gratitude always,” said Alliu.

Ilir Shulku, the FSHF general secretary, together with former national team goalkeeper Perlat Musta and former footballer Besnik Kola, also shared their impressions of Alliu as a player.
