The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a meeting with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Pristina, Anu Prattipati, to discuss recent developments in the country, including the security situation in Kosovo and the region.

The meeting took place a day after Kosovo authorities announced the detention of 16 Serbs in the southern and southwestern parts of the country, most of whom were later released.

During the meeting, President Osmani emphasized Serbia’s ongoing efforts to destabilize Kosovo and the region through well-coordinated actions involving illegal structures and Serbian criminal gangs. She underlined that the latest actions of the arrested individuals in Gjakova and Prizren are linked to Serbian military intelligence structures and members of the Banjska terrorist group, according to preliminary investigations.

Osmani stressed that these actions are part of Serbia’s continued attempt to destabilize Kosovo through threats and violence, constituting an unacceptable interference in Kosovo’s state sovereignty.

For four of those arrested in Gjakova, the Prosecutor’s Office has requested one month of pre-trial detention, charging them with violating weapons laws. Meanwhile, 10 of the 12 individuals detained in Prizren have already been released, while the remaining two, with the initials L.S. and S.R., remain in custody.
