As of today, May 1st, there will no longer be border checks at the customs points connecting Albania and Kosovo. The agreement that provides for the facilitation of border procedures for vehicles with license plates from both countries has been reactivated to allow fast and unrestricted movement.
Under this agreement, citizens of Albania and Kosovo will pass through the Morina and Vërmica border crossings with expedited procedures during nine months of the year and on holiday weekends.
This free movement was applied last year and proved effective, as it reduced traffic and eased border crossing during the summer season.
It became necessary due to the high volume of travelers from Kosovo who visit Albania, mainly for summer holidays.
This year as well, the simplified procedures will apply for nine months, specifically from May 1st to September 30th, and from November 1st to February 28th of the following year.
During this period of facilitated circulation, there will be no passport or ID checks for citizens of either country.
