The leader of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, held a closing campaign event in Shkodër on Sunday, where he presented an overview of his left-wing government’s investments in the county over the last decade.
Rama said that when Shkodër Municipality was governed by the Democrats, it refused any cooperation with the central government. He emphasized that the total government investment in the Shkodër region during this decade amounted to €1.31 billion.
“Unlike all other counties, this one has a hole in the last 10 years. The hole is Shkodër Municipality. Until Beneti took office here, there was no talk of projects. In a decade, Shkodër received the fewest investments in the entire county. Not because we didn’t want to, but because there was no cooperation… Still, there is one thing that makes me very proud, even though it’s one of the many myths artificially created with no basis at all. You’ve heard it: ‘Edi Rama doesn’t care about the North, doesn’t care about northerners.’ In that complicated family tree of mine, the North is at the root. I’ve always had a strong connection with the history of Shkodër. My Catholic grandmother influenced me greatly. I had the privilege of being friends with Father Zef Pellumbi… Here, 315 kilometers of internal roads have been built in the Shkodër region over a decade. Today, 95% of the territory has either gravel or asphalted roads. Over a quarter of a billion euros invested in Shkodër county: 414 projects. The government’s total investment in Shkodër county is €1.31 billion,” Rama said.
