The two children who fell into the Arachthos River in Arta on Wednesday have died in hospital.
According to doctors, both suffered clinical death, and their parents made the difficult decision to donate their organs.

Albanian Kleoni Fezollari and Greek Spyros Kristofor were underwater for around 20 minutes. After an additional 30 minutes, CPR began at the Arta hospital, where doctors fought with dedication to bring them back to life.
They were later transferred to the Rio hospital, where they remained in intensive care in critical condition. Two days after the accident, despite intense medical efforts, both were declared clinically dead.

Fourteen-year-old Spyros had jumped into the river to save his 12-year-old friend.
At the site of the tragedy, friends have laid flowers and heartfelt messages. Among them was also the Albanian migrant who had bravely dived into the water in an attempt to rescue the boys.

“We will remember you forever. You left us as heroes. Your friends,” reads one of the touching notes left at the scene.
