The Iranian hacker group Homeland Justice has resurfaced with new threats against Albania, spreading alarming content on social media.
Taking advantage of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, which escalated last Friday, the group issued a threatening message linked to Albania’s hosting of members of the exiled Iranian opposition group, the Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK), based in the Manzë camp near Durrës.
In a statement posted on their Telegram channel, Homeland Justice claims:
“Iranians have the right to strike the Manzë camp with missiles.”
The threat was accompanied by a cyberattack targeting the official website of the Municipality of Tirana.
This is not the first time Homeland Justice has directed threats toward Albania or carried out cyberattacks against state institutions. In the past, the group has breached government systems and leaked the personal data of Albanian citizens.
In its most recent message, the group wrote:
“You are wandering close to Death.
Over 3,000 terrorists were placed in Albania.
Albanian soil was forced to host these beasts.
It is quite understandable for the hospitable Albanians.
We hope Iranians (who now have the legal right to launch their supernatural missiles at the Manzë camp) understand this.
Homeland Justice.”
The statement has sparked concern over national cybersecurity and the continuing threat from hostile state-linked actors targeting Albania due to its geopolitical alignments.
