The acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, stated that during raids conducted in a village in Zvečan, authorities discovered “an arsenal of weapons” which, according to him, would be sufficient “for a terrorist unit.”
Sveçla said that during the raids in Vallač, Zvečan – carried out by the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, and monitored by KFOR and EULEX – authorities found rocket launchers, hand grenades, explosives, as well as various types of weapons and ammunition.
“According to the information I have received, the heavy weaponry was found in a facility belonging to politician [and leader of the Serbian Democracy party] Aleksandar Arsenijević,” Sveçla stated, without providing any evidence to support this claim.
In various parts of Kosovo, including the northern region predominantly inhabited by Serbs, authorities have from time to time discovered different types of weapons.
In May, authorities said they had found a weapons workshop in North Mitrovica, and during the operation, a cache of arms and various weapon parts was reportedly seized.
