Albania’s Ambassador to Tel Aviv, Meri Kumbe, in an interview for the show Now with Erla Mëhilli, commented on the latest developments in Israel following the ceasefire reached with Iran.
According to her, the situation has fully returned to normal this afternoon, and she announced that schools will reopen and classes will resume tomorrow. The ambassador emphasized that the Israeli army has given the green light, and fortunately, no Albanians were injured in the Iranian attacks.
“The afternoon hours are completely different. The city has come back to life, it was full of people—everything resembled normal life before the attacks began. The morning hours were difficult, with alarms sounding from 5 to 7 AM without interruption. Around midday, the north of the country was hit, raising concerns about the ceasefire. However, in the late afternoon, the army declared a green status, and schools will reopen tomorrow,” she said.
“We are back to normal and remain in constant contact with Albanian citizens and our community living here. There were no injuries among Albanians from the attacks, although one family was lucky—only their windows shattered from a nearby explosion.”
“We sincerely hope this ceasefire will hold, and that it may also contribute to the release of hostages and a halt to other regional conflicts, such as the situation in Gaza,” she concluded.
