Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced the total suspension of the National Food Authority (AKU), a government body which, according to him, causes more harm than good.
The announcement was made during his closing remarks at the end of the first day of discussions in the Dialogue on Agriculture and Rural Development, held with farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs.
“The AKU will be suspended. A special commission will be established to select the human resources that will handle inspections.
The AKU is the biggest concern for all entrepreneurs, as well as for restaurants and cafés, because instead of doing good, it causes harm.
The Ministry of Agriculture should issue the order for the complete suspension of the AKU,” Rama stated.
