Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared footage on social media of the National Inspectorate for the Protection of Territory (IKMT) carrying out demolitions of unlicensed buildings in Theth.
The head of government continued his accusations against prosecutor Elsa Gjeli, stating that he has asked the Ministry of Justice to submit a request to the High Prosecutorial Council for her dismissal.
Rama emphasized that Prosecutor Gjeli refused to open a criminal case against a businessman reported by the State Police for constructing an entire tourist village without any permits. He stressed that the valley of Theth will be cleared of concrete and returned to its previous state.
“Here, see it for yourselves — LIVE from Theth!
This is the magnificent field of Theth, where a criminal — who doesn’t even have the courage to show up while IKMT is enforcing the law — has poured concrete everywhere to build his ‘tourist village’ without any permit. A multi-layered crime, for which a prosecutor named Elsa Gjeli refused to open a case, throwing the State Police’s report straight into the trash.
Now, what debt do Mrs. Gjeli, the Republic of Albania, the Theth National Park, the wonderful and hardworking residents of Theth, the many visitors and tourists, and all the forces deployed today in Theth — together with the Albanian taxpayers who will foot the bill for wages and fuel — owe for cleaning up this mess and restoring the magical village center to its original state?” Rama wrote.
