The process of constituting the Assembly of Kosovo has failed for the 48th consecutive time. In today’s session, acting chair Avni Dehari once again put to vote the proposal for forming the secret ballot commission, which received no support from any political party except Vetëvendosje.
There were 100 deputies present in the Assembly chamber, 51 of whom voted in favor. There were no votes against and no abstentions. Deputies from other parties used the floor to voice their opposition to the voting method, but were interrupted by the session chair.
In front of the Assembly building, symbolic protests were held against the ongoing institutional blockade that continues to obstruct the functioning of the institutions.
The Constitutional Court has given the deputies until July 26 to constitute the Assembly, though it has not clarified what will happen if the deadline is not met.
